Lossless mode rebuilds the document without intentionally rasterizing pages. Stronger modes downsample page images and can turn pages into images, which can remove text selection and searchability.
A PDF dominated by scanned images may not shrink much in lossless mode. If searchable text matters, use the lossless option and compare the result before choosing stronger compression.
Reduce PDF file size in your browser. Choose lossless rebuilding or image downsampling, and see exactly what you gain and lose.
The focused PDF Tools workspace is designed for a single job at a time. It does not require an account and does not add a FileCarpenter watermark to the downloaded result.
Lossless only removes structural waste — orphaned objects and old revision layers. If a file is mostly scanned images, the images are the size, and only downsampling will shrink it.
On Lossless, yes. On the other levels, no: pages become images, so text can no longer be selected or searched.
It will not. If rasterising would produce a larger file, the lossless result is returned instead and the tool says so.
