Everything you need to edit a PDF, in one focused workspace

FileCarpenter combines everyday PDF editing and annotation in one browser workspace. Fix selectable text, add new text, select real PDF text to highlight it, place comments anywhere on a page, draw, add shapes and links, insert an image or signature, fill interactive forms, and reorder or rotate pages without jumping between separate tools.

Edit PDF text

Click editable text to inspect and replace it while FileCarpenter checks whether the change can be applied safely.

Highlight & comment

Select exact letters, words or passages for native PDF highlights, underline or strikeout, then add comments wherever review notes are needed.

Sign & annotate

Type a signature in one of several handwriting styles, draw it, or upload an image with its white background removed. Add drawings, shapes, stamps, links and images with direct page placement.

Organize pages

Rotate, duplicate, delete, insert and reorder PDF pages from a visual page organizer.

How to edit a PDF online

  2. Pick the tool you need. Edit text, highlight, comment, sign, fill forms or organize pages.
  3. Download the finished PDF. FileCarpenter validates the result before export and does not add a watermark.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to create an account?

No. FileCarpenter's editor does not require signup or login before you open and edit a PDF.

Does FileCarpenter add a watermark?

No. FileCarpenter does not add a FileCarpenter watermark to the PDF you download.

Can I highlight selectable PDF text?

Yes. The Mark up tool can select extracted PDF text and create native highlight, underline or strikeout annotations that follow the selected text.

Can I add comments in different places?

Yes. Add a comment, click the location on the page, then repeat anywhere else in the document. Comments are stored as PDF annotations.

What happens to an uploaded PDF?

The editor sends the PDF to the FileCarpenter application server for the active editing session because structural safety checks and validated export are server-authoritative. Session data is temporary and expires after inactivity. While the PDF is open, the Server copy control shows the live retention status and lets you delete the active server editing session immediately; do not use the service for documents you are not permitted to process.
