Add comments to a PDF online
Place review notes exactly where they belong, add comments in multiple locations, edit them later and download a PDF with standard comment annotations.
Put comments anywhere in your PDF
FileCarpenter's Comment tool creates PDF annotations rather than temporary browser-only notes. Write a comment, click the page where the note belongs, then continue placing comments elsewhere in the document. Selected comments can be edited, moved, resized, duplicated or deleted when the PDF safely supports those actions.
How to comment on a PDF
- Choose a PDF.
- The Comment dialog opens automatically.
- Type the note and optionally set the author name.
- Click the exact location on the page where the comment belongs.
- Use Add another comment to continue reviewing without returning to the toolbar.
- Download the PDF when review is complete.
Comments and highlighting work together
For document review, highlight the passage itself and place a comment nearby when you need to explain why it matters. This keeps the visual markup concise while preserving detailed feedback in the PDF annotation layer.
PDF comment questions
Can I add several comments to one PDF?
Yes. Comments can be placed independently at different locations and on different pages.
Can I edit a comment after placing it?
Yes. Select a supported FileCarpenter comment and use the contextual editing controls to change its text.
Will the comments remain in the downloaded PDF?
Yes. FileCarpenter writes comments as PDF annotations and verifies the saved document before export.
