Better compatibility
FCShare never changes your original file. Optimization only happens after you choose it.
No copy was kept anywhere.
WeTransfer-style services upload a file and provide a link that works after the sender leaves. FCShare instead keeps the sender in the loop: the recipient joins a temporary room and receives bytes while the sender’s browser remains open. That avoids server storage and the associated service-size tier.
It is not better for every job. Choose a stored transfer when the recipient is offline, several recipients need separate downloads, or resend/resume features matter. Choose live P2P when minimizing copies, skipping signup, and moving a very large file now are the priorities.
There is no preliminary server upload or email form.
The recipient opens it while your browser stays available.
They accept the file and both sides remain connected until it completes.
FCShare offers a temporary room, QR handoff, optional join password, live progress, and no service-imposed payload cap. A hosted transfer service offers asynchronous availability, often email delivery, retention windows, download tracking, and paid storage tiers. Pick based on timing and retention, not the headline alone.
FileCarpenter is not affiliated with WeTransfer. “Alternative” here describes a different way to complete the task of delivering a file; trademarks belong to their respective owners.
No. Use a hosted transfer service if later access is required.
The payload is not stored by FileCarpenter. Device, browser, network, and disk limits still apply.
No. Copy the room link into the communication channel you already use.
